The Society for Qing Palace History

The Society for Qing Palace History is a scholarly organization for the research of Qing dynasty court history and is a permanent establishment of the Palace Museum. The society is composed of personnel from bodies engaged in the preservation of sites associated with the Qing imperial family and the management and research of Qing dynasty archives. Established in 1989, member bodies included the Palace Museum, First Historical Archives of China, Shenyang Palace Museum, Chengde Cultural Relics Bureau (including the Mountain Resort museum, research institute, and administration and the relic administration of the Outlying Temples), the Eastern Tombs administration, and Western Tombs administration. Beginning in 2008, new member bodies also included administrations from the Ministry of Culture's Prince Gong Mansion, Temple of Heaven, and Summer Palace.

From its inception, the society has held regular academic symposiums and published an comprehensive collection of materials. This large association of professional members has improved dialogue, expanded scholarly horizons, improved academic standards, and become an integral part of member body research pursuits.
