Institute of Court Furnishings

Under the guidance of the Palace Museum, the Institute of Court Furnishings (non-organizational research group) was established on 2 June 2017 and seeks to combine documentary materials with architectures and environment with display items to organize specialists in the Palace Museum and from the outside for systematic, in-depth, comprehensive exploration of palace history, architecture, and cultural relics for positive academic development, to strive for restoring ancient Chinese palace furnishings, and to decipher the Forbidden City, which stands at the apex of the pyramidal structure of Chinese imperial palatial architecture and cultural relics. On the basis of the Palace Museum’s research, conservation, and exhibition of period furnishings and artifacts, the institute promotes academic exchange at home and abroad.
