Established 29 March 2019, the Institute of Intellectual Property Rights is a non-designated institution for scientific research affiliated to the Palace Museum Academy. Its primary duty is to develop in-depth analytic demonstrations of intellectual property rights categories, methods of production, management, application, characteristics, functions, and protections. The institute has its basis in national laws and regulations and is grounded in the Palace Museum, the museum and cultural industry, and the field of intellectual property rights for the purpose developing intellectual property rights research and implementing the functions of a think tank with the primary responsibility of building close connections with academic bodies and cultural organizations to promote the sharing of resources and exchange between the Palace Museum and those entities with regularly organized academic dialogue and symposiums. Furthermore, it serves to make contributions to the Palace Museum and the museum world in regard to the protection, management, and utilization of intellectual property.
