The Institute of Gugong Studies is an academic entity within the Palace Museum. The primary focus of this body involves the following aspects: develop the systematic research of Gugong Studies; coordinate the Institute’s research programs; promote the Institute’s publications; organize academic exchanges and conferences; maintain communications with internal and external bodies and domestic and international scholarly entities; hold academic conferences; establish provisional programs for scholars; provide essential services for post-doctoral research; train talented scholars in Gugong Studies; publish the Journal of Gugong Studies (Gugong xuekan) and A Collection of Essays on the Ming and Qing Dynasties (Mingqing luncong); compile, edit, and publish collected works in Gugong Studies; and collect printed, digital, and multimedia resources on Gugong Studies from China and around the world.
