Dynastic Paintings and Calligraphy in the Palace Museum Collection (6th Rotation)

The Hall of Martial Valor (Wuying dian) reopens to house the sixth rotation of the extensive exhibition Dynastic Paintings and Calligraphy in the Palace Museum Collection on September 3. This is a continuation of the previous five rotations under the same exhibition theme. The sixth rotation falls on a period including the National Day, which marks the exact date of the sixtieth anniversary of the founding of the People\'s Republic of China. Therefore, exhibits selected are masterpieces with clear collection record. Take, for example, Mid-autumn Manuscript attributed to Wang Xianzhi (344-386), Ascending Mount Yangtai by Li Bai (701-762), Boat Returning on Snowy River by Zhao Ji, A Thousand Li of Mountains and Rivers by Wang Ximeng (1096-1119), and Four Stages of Flowering Plum by Yang Wujiu (1097-1169). Like other rotations, this one will also be accompanied with a catalogue. Touch-screen digital signboards installed in the exhibition hall provide detailed information on the works. In addition, a digital gallery extends the exhibition to include a virtual display of the finest paintings and calligraphic works in the Palace Museum\'s collection. For foreign visitors interested in Chinese art, the museum has added English subtitles to the two videos shown in the exhibition, which introduce Chinese painting and calligraphy, respectively.
