“Fabergé” is synonymous with exquisite craftsmanship, luxury jewelry and Russian imperial treasure. Peter Carl Fabergé (1846-1920) was a noted Russian goldsmith, jeweler, and designer of arts and crafts. He brought about bold changes to Russian traditional jewelry design and craftsmanship. The House of Fabergé has been famous worldwide for designing exquisite and ingenious jeweled objects; Fabergé eggs it made as Easter gifts were seen as treasure by imperial families of the Russian Empire and other countries, and most of them have been collected by museums or private collectors all over the world. The Virginia Museum of Fine Arts (VMFA), an art museum in Richmond, Virginia, the United States, houses the largest collection of Fabergé works outside Russia.Established in 1936, VMFA now has a collection of more than 33,000 works spanning 5,000 years. Because of its special and broad scope of exhibitions, it ranks among the top ten museums and is recognized as one of the top comprehensive art museums in the United States.

Today, the Palace Museum and the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts jointly present 234 pieces (sets) of Fabergé treasure to the audience, for the first time a large collection from a U.S. museum is exhibited in the Palace Museum. The exhibition, which comprises four sections - "Gifts of Tsars", "Majestic Decorative Arts", "Everyday Opulence" and "Power of Faith", is a systematic display of the excellent philosophy and craftsmanship of Fabergé jewelry, offering the audience a fabulous cultural experience.
